Product Description

Beyond the artistic ambitions of each musician, too often we tend to forget that most of these discs were designed for commercial use and functional to a specific purpose, namely that of sound. The real difficulty, then, in demonstrating a compositional versatility that allowed the use of songs in very different contexts with each other: documentaries, spaghetti westerns, dramas and television programs, news reports. Clouds, the fourth chapter of the new and exciting saga of Spectrum, is a classical library in its most purest form. Despite being credited solely Pasquale Castiglione – a facade even under the pseudonym Lino – is in effect a collaboration between composer and Paul House, engaged in the arrangements here and in conducting. Two lesser-known names from the various Umiliani, Alessandroni and Macchi, but worthy of rediscovery (House of Movements is a rare superclass of Eurofunk that should be brought to light as soon as possible), and an album that lines up all the influences of Castiglione. Published in 1975 by the Octopus, Clouds often lingers in sub-Morricone atmospheres Riding, 3/4 Western and conclusive Friends, gives sudden scraps toward funk and jazz rock (Chase and Games, genuine pearls), of calm and tranquility as in the sinuous title track and other similar experiments to those of many aquatic libraries (Modern Expressions), or even simple pop interludes (Loneliness). Another classic weblog Spectrum!
